Backlight

Backlight is the light source behind an LCD or LED TV screen that makes the picture visible. Without it, the panel would look dark, since LCD pixels don’t produce their own light.

Backlight Bleed happens when this light leaks unevenly around the edges or corners of the screen, creating brighter spots in what should be a uniform black background. It’s most noticeable in dark scenes.

Backlight Control is the TV feature that lets you adjust how strong or dim the backlight is. Lowering it can save energy and reduce eye strain, while increasing it makes the picture brighter in well-lit rooms.

Backlight Scanning improves motion clarity by turning sections of the backlight on and off in sequence, making fast-moving scenes look smoother.

Backlight Strobing takes this further by flashing the backlight very quickly in sync with the video frames, reducing motion blur. Gamers often prefer TVs with this feature because it makes action appear sharper.
